How many volunteers will be needed? Approximately 3,000 volunteers. How do I apply to become a volunteer? Information on how to volunteer for WorldSkills Calgary 2009 will be posted on our website at www.worldskills2009.com/volunteers. As we develop the volunteer program over the next three years, this website will provide updates on how you can get involved in the 2009 WorldSkills Competition. What groups are you targeting for recruitment? All volunteers are welcome and very much appreciated. We need people with all kinds of skill sets. Is there a deadline for applying? Aside from some of the highly specialised technical roles, there are no immediate deadlines for applying for volunteer positions. Will my personal information be stored securely? WorldSkills Calgary 2009 will keep all personal information confidential and secure. We will only use the information to assign you as a volunteer; to accredit you as a volunteer; and to generally communicate with you about WorldSkills Calgary 2009 and related activities. Am I guaranteed a volunteer position? Every effort will be made to ensure all volunteers have an opportunity to participate at WorldSkills Calgary 2009. When will I be assigned to a volunteer position? We anticipate being able to assign and train volunteers starting in the fall of 2008. Please check our website for more up-to-date information. What is accreditation? Accreditation divides competition personnel into groups, identifying individuals with picture ID, complete with name, group, and other icons, defining privileges and restrictions for the group. Volunteers will be accredited to ensure they have access to the locations required to get their job done. When will I get accredited? The "Creative Arts & Fashion" category covers all the skilled areas that are related to fine arts and fashionable design and creation. This encompasses everything from multi-media creative, interior decoration and fashion. The competition areas included in this area are: Jewellery, Floristry, Ladies" Dressmaking and Graphic Design Technology.
